Notice in verses 26 and 28 God said ‘let them (man) have dominion over all the animal kingdom and the physical earth itself. That was it, total control over everything on the face of the earth –Everything! This was the most perfect situation; "The Creator of the Universe" has delegated man to be the manager of the whole earth.

Chapter 3 tells of the temptation of Eve in the garden by the devil in the body of a serpent. She ate of the fruit and gave some to Adam and he took it and ate.

Adam went along and He gave the authority of the Earth to the Devil by disobeying God by eating the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Man became spiritually disconnected from his life source Almighty God.

Reading all of Genesis chapter 3 we see that the curse was released on mankind.

Adam being the first man lost the authority of the earth to the devil; therefore all of mankind lost the authority over the earth. But Jesus came to restore us back to our rightful place

God had to get the earth back to man and it started with a man named Abram. God later named him Abraham- Father of a multitude. Abraham was the beginning of the Jewish nation. He made a covenant of blood with Abraham and the promise of that covenant from Almighty God is to provide everything Abraham ever needed and ever wanted. He also provided protection for Abraham and his seed-the nation of Israel (Genesis 15 through 18). When the Creator of this universe personally protects you, my friend you’re protected. All God wanted from His people was fellowship and obedience. It was through the nation of Israel that the seed Jesus was born

Up to this time Satan the author of the curse was running the earth with his demons and fallen angels, enforcing his kingdom of darkness by murder, theft, hunger, suicide idolatry, false religion, greed, sickness, disease, death, etc (Deut. 28:15-68).Satan is a spirit being and he and his forces operate in the unseen spirit realm, influencing fallen man in the natural (flesh and blood) realm to commit these evil deeds. The natural saved or unsaved man does not believe or is even aware that the devil exists or that there is a spirit realm. But the spiritual man is aware of the spirit world because he believes in the Word of God and is led by the Holy Spirit.

The Father God commissioned his Son, Jesus to come in His sinless blood body to be our example and deliver mankind from the oppressive bondage of Satan and his Kingdom of Darkness.

Jesus had to be anointed with the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17) to perform the miracles and the demonstration of power during his earthly ministry, because He left His Godhead ability before he came to earth, because man has the authority on this planet. That is why born again Believers must also have the baptism of the Holy Spirit in our earthly ministry.

It gives us the ability to cast out demons and lay hands on the sick to heal them in Jesus name. Jesus gave us the command in the "Great Commission".

When Jesus came He brought with Him a new Kingdom that was mightier than Satan’s kingdom, it was the Kingdom of God and it came with complete authority over the works of the wicked one.

These are the weapons that Jesus gave to the church to occupy until he comes back. Just to give you an example, I recall once visiting my fathers house and came upon a very intense situation. My father had a tenant that was renting an apartment from him. It seems the young man was late with his rent and had fallen maybe several weeks behind. My father inquired several times to the young man during the course of the month, and the young tenant gave him several dates that he promised to pay his rent. These dates came and went with no payment received.

Now this particular time, I was told the young fellow had become extremely agitated, was very profane and threatening violence toward my father. I could see my dad was distraught, because he told me the young man was a gentleman, who was always well mannered and behaved. Well upon hearing this I perceived, this was a demonic attack against my father and his tenant was the vessel that was used to bring this about. I went down into the basement and immediately exercised my God given authority.

I praised and thanked the Lord for the victory and went back up stairs. My father by this time had phoned the police. The front door bell rang; my father went to the door and opened it. It was his tenant, and his demeanor was noticeably calmer .Well to make a long story shorter the young fellow apologized to my dad and told him he didn’t know what had come over him. My father accepted his apology and sometime thereafter the rent account was settled.

Please understand my father didn’t know of these spiritual authority or spiritual laws, so I really didn’t say anything to him about the young mans attitude turnaround.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
¹² For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places

In the book of Ephesians in the New Testament, the Apostle Paul gives us clear revelation into the believer’s authority. It’s not the people we’re warring against but Satan’s demonic forces that influence the people. These people could be unsaved (have never accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior) or born again Christians who have not yielded their wills to the Word of God, therefore Satan can easily influence their thinking and actions. Paul prayed a prayer in Ephesians 1-

16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:
¹⁷ that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,
¹⁸ the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
¹⁹ and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power
²⁰ which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,
²¹ far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
²² And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,
²³ which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

I pray this prayer everyday and I suggest any born again spirit-filled believer do the same. You’ll attain a revelation of being seated in the heavenlies with the Father and the Lord Jesus on the throne, far above all principalities and powers of darkness. It’s the power of God that’s behind us, we have the authority in the earth realm to execute it.

Our authority is over Satan’s kingdom but not over man. For instance we can’t just go around casting out demons from people against their will. I know it sounds crazy but if a person desires not be delivered from demonic oppression, a believer can’t go against that persons desire. That means the demon spirit can remain with that person. Now in the case of a person who is unsaved and wants to be free, it would greatly benefit that person if they receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior and they can be set free. A person that’s unsaved belongs to the devil and he has the right to remain in the body. A believer has the authority over satanic operations in his life and the lives of those seeking help. Once again we have no authority over peoples wills. God never gave us dominion over people. God always gives us a free choice; it’s up to the individual which direction he or she chooses.

Through the Word of God and the name of Jesus, we have power over sickness, disease, poverty, lack and demonic oppression.

This subject of the Believers authority is the most important subject in the body of Christ. The devil furiously fights to keep this revelation from the body of Christ because if the church as a whole learns it, we will become the Triumphant Church
